students at Mexborough School showed why they are top of the class at a special awards night to recognise their achievements.
More than 100 prizes were given out to high-achieving year 10 and 11 students at the Key Stage 4 awards night in February.
Several students were marked out for particular praise and took home special awards.
Star pupil Connor Fieldsend was presented with the Margaret Wearmouth Memorial Prize for Achievement, and fellow high achiever Isobel Drake was given the Michael Willey Memorial Prize.
A total of 11 students from two year groups were rewarded for 100 per cent attendance.
After the awards were given out, the school choir sang hymns. Students also performed piano and trumpet solos.
Headteacher Mirjam Buhler-Willey addressed the pupils and praised them for all their hard work.
Alan Yellup, headteacher of Wakefield City High School, which has a partnership agreement with Mexborough School, was the special guest speaker.
Gail Taylor, head of Community and Transition at Mexborough School, said: “We believe in rewarding pupils for all of their hard work and it was great to celebrate all their achievements.”
