South Yorkshire firms featured in new export guide aimed at boosting exports

Two award-winning South Yorkshire businesses have been featured in a new guide aimed at making more manufacturers aware of the benefits of exporting.

Manufacturing firms Naylor Industries from Barnsley and Sheffield-based Precision Medical are amongst four companies selected from across the UK to be included in the Britain’s Global Adventure: the Export Opportunity guide.

It has been published to coincide with the launch of Exporting is GREAT – the Government’s biggest ever export campaign.

Both companies were chosen after they successfully demonstrated their exporting prowess.

Naylor Industries has six factories in the UK and now exports to 65 countries. In the last 5 years it has quadrupled its export sales.

Likewise, Sheffield Precision Medical is no stranger to success, having won the UKTI Export Achievement Award in the 2012 Medilink Healthcare Business Awards. Exports now account for around 35 to 40 per cent of its annual turnover, while the company has also been able to increase its workforce from 13 to 34 staff.

EEF, the industry body for engineering and manufacturing employer, is an official partner of the campaign, which aims to inspire and support an additional 100,000 companies to export by 2020.

Andy Tuscher, Yorkshire and Humber Region director at EEF, said: “Manufacturers are already more likely to export than their peers in other sectors and account for nearly half of all UK exports. This is why our sector has a key role to play in helping the UK achieve its ambitious export goals.”
