Frenchgate Shopping Centre, Doncaster has created its summer sports zone, which has a penalty shootout area, table tennis and table football, to give families the chance to turn their shopping trip into a sporting experience.
Centre manager Laurie Barton Wright said: “On the back of the Tour de France starting in Yorkshire and the World Cup we decided that we’d create this area to keep the sporting excitement going.
“We want to make shopping trips as much fun as possible for our customers and with the children being off school for the summer we felt that this new area would help to make a visit to the centre even more exciting for them.
“We are sure that there will be lots of mums and dads in the goal with the children trying to score goals past them and lots of brothers and sisters battling it out on the table tennis and football tables.
“Huge thanks to the Doncaster Belles and Doncaster Rovers for helping us to launch this area with their players and mascots.”
The Summer Sports Zone, which is free to use and open daily, is located at the end of the food mall opposite Frenchie’s Funzone and includes seating for spectators.
