School kids to open new family play area

YOUNGSTERS from a Swinton school will officially open a new family play area in the town next week.

Pupils from Brookfield Primary School will cut a ribbon on Tuesday, June 19, to officially launch the new revamped play area at Dun Street.

It has been funded through £41,000 Landfill Tax Credits from WREN together with contributions from Wentworth North Area Housing Panel and the three Swinton ward councillors’ Community Leadership Fund.

Councillor Ken Wyatt said: “Following many site visits by myself and my colleagues, John Doyle and Neil License, it was really exciting to be awarded this large external grant from WREN.

“This has resulted in an exciting but safe modern facility being built for local children to enjoy.”

Councillor John Doyle added: “It is great to see this project finally come to fruition following a lot of hard work by local members and Area Assembly officers.”
