The 2012 Sheffield Arena Trial will be taking place at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday January 7, with the best riders in the World competing for the crown King of Sheffield. This year the event will not be a round of the 2012 FIM World Championship but with a star studded international line-up it promises to be an action packed night not to be missed.

The international line up includes; the awesome Repsol Montesa mounted double World Champion Toni Bou, World number two and Gas Gas number one Adam Raga, crowd pleaser and ex World Champion Takahisa Fujinami (Repsol Montesa) and last but not least riding the tried and tested Ossa, Jeroni Fajardo.

They will be battling it out with the best of the Brits and for one it will be a night to remember as legend Dougie Lampkin MBE makes this his last performance at Sheffield. Dougie will be the only rider in the line-up to have appeared at every event so far – a total of 17. He will be looking for that final victory to show he really is the King of Sheffield.

The best of the Brits will also be fighting it out to take to this years crown including back to back British Champion James Dabill (Beta), World number six Michael Brown (Gas Gas) and last years new boy Jack Challoner (Beta).

Promoter, Neil Crosswaite of Avondale management said: “We have been in discussions with the FIM for some time now, but just couldn’t come to terms regarding World Championship status. One of the sticking points is having to agree to live TV coverage, which means we can’t set our own schedule. Another point is Sheffield needs to run and we want to run our seventeenth event with our top British riders, the list of available riders that the FIM provided excluded all but one of our British riders.”

“So, I am more than happy because we are running with the line up we want, to the format and timetable of our choice. We will be giving our lads a sporting chance to perform against the best riders in the World and you wont get that anywhere but Sheffield”

The half time entertainment this year is going to lift the roof, but its top secret, if you want to be a part of it you will have to be there! So if you fancy four hours of incredible adrenalin pumping action with the best of ‘The Brits’ taking on the ‘Best’ in the World then Sheffield is the place to be on the January 7, 2012.
