Dearne residents are being urged to support an event to raise awareness of fairtrade.

The annual Rotherham Fairtrade Charity Dinner will include presentations on how fairtrade makes a positive impact on communities across the world.

In addition to a five course dinner there will also be a fundraising raffle in aid of the Coffee Kids charity.

The evening will take place at Rotherham College’s newly opened Wharncliffe Restaurant on Thursday, April 10, from 6.30pm onwards.

Swinton councillor Ken Wyatt, who has helped to organise the event, said: “Demand for tickets for this prestigious event is usually high and we are limited to the number of available covers.

“Please come along to support our students and our excellent charities.”

“This year’s event is slightly later than usual as we have been eagerly waiting for the college’s brand new Wharncliffe Restaurant to be fully operational.”

Catering and hospitality will serve the food, which will be made using only fairtrade products.

Tickets are available at £20 each from Rotherham Town Hall or by contacting Susan Ainscough by email at or ring her on 01709 822722.
