From family favourites to some of the most popular film franchises in history, there's plenty on the box this weekend.

We've picked out five of the best films that you can watch from the comfort of your living room over the Bank Holiday.

Puss in Boots

BBC One, Saturday 26 May (3:45pm - 5:05pm)

A spin-off from the popular Shrek series, this family favourite will have you on the edge of your seat as you uncover a darker side to some familiar nursery rhymes.

The film follows Puss' adventures before his first appearance in Shrek 2.

Alongside side-kicks Humpty Dumpty and Kitty Softpaws, the ferocious feline tackles Jack and Jill - two outlaws who are in possession of some legendary magic beans.

It's a flick which is sure to keep you in suspense and hysterics in equal measure - well worth a watch.

Johnny English Reborn

ITV2, Saturday 26 May (5:15pm - 6:20pm)

Rowan Atkinson is back as the bumbling British spy Johnny English who, after typically making a hash of a covert mission in Mozambique, receives a call from MI7.

English is tasked with uncovering a plot to assassinate the Chinese Premier while taking down the undercover operation of Vortex.

There's plenty of twists and turns and - with a third film in the series scheduled for release in September of this year - it's a perfect opportunity to catch up on English's adventures so far.

Jurassic World

ITV2, Sunday 27 May (5:40pm - 6:45pm)

With its sequel - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - only a few days away from release, here's a great opportunity to catch up on the action-packed adventure.

The re-launch of one of the most popular film franchises of all time, Jurassic World delivered all the excitement and drama of the original movie, with a modern twist.

Once again it's the dinosaurs who steal the show, as the re-launched Jurassic World suffers the same fate as the original park.

Expect the same spills and thrills as the 1993 flick, as well as some throwbacks, in a film which keeps you engaged throughout.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Channel 4, Sunday 27 May (10:10pm - 12:55am)

Another popular franchise and another film well worth a watch this Bank Holiday weekend.

After her actions in the initial film spark an uprising, Katniss Everdeen is whisked off on a victory tour before being thrust back into the Hunger Games arena in yet another winner-takes-all battle royale.

There's action, suspense and even a little bit of romance in the second film of the series - meaning it's well worth the late night on Sunday.

Oliver!

5Star, Monday May 28 (11:05am - 2:05pm)

It may have been released in 1968, but the heart-warming tale of Oliver! continues to be a household favourite.

The film interpretation of Lionel Bart's famous musical delivers the same laugh and cheers as the stage show, complete with the fantastic array of songs.

It's a perfect film to enjoy on a lazy Bank Holiday Monday, and is sure to leave you asking 'please sir, can I have some more?'
