A mandolin expert and a well-known female singer hope to raise the roof with their take on comedy tunes in a live music show in an Isle village.

Luddington Village Hall will be the venue for the show on March 15 when Classic FM top 10 artist, Radio Two series presenter and mandolin virtuoso Simon Mayor and Radio One championed singer Hillary James bring their Tears of Laughter tour to the hall.

Chairman of the Luddington Village Hall, Sam Baker, said: “Through the Live Lincs Rural Touring programme we have seen some fantastic acts perform in Luddington and Simon Mayor and Hilary James will be no exception.”

The talented duo has toured the world from Vancouver to Singapore and play anything from bawdy folk ballads to well known songs by Noel Coward, Vivian Ellis, Jake Thackray, Bernard Cribbins and a few more modern surprises.

They have a repertoire that crosses from traditional ballads to blues, Berlioz, classical mandolin show-stoppers and some of their own notorious comic songs their show has some wry, dry humour.

Hilary James’ CDs have been played in places from Radio One to Latvia and Los Angeles.

She is also famed for an unusual taste in brass instruments including her giant mandobass.

The show also features some quirky musical instrumentals from Simon Mayor.

Doors for the show open at 7pm and tickets are £6. Book tickets by calling 01724 798543 or 07752 144790. Tickets will also be available on the evening when doors open at 7pm.

Guests can bring their own drinks and nibbles.
