Police Community Support Officers from the Central Safer Neighbourhood Team teamed up with St Peter’s Primary School at Belle Vue to help promote bike safety and road awareness.
The PCSOs worked with a company called Pedal Ready to offer advice to 17 children from Years Five and Six. They showed them how to perform roadworthy checks on their bikes and gave them advice on road safety awareness on the roads in their area.
The children were awarded badges for successfully completing the training and were able to achieve the national standard of level one and two in cycle proficiency.
PCSO Martin Quinn said: “Most children have bikes and it is important they know how to maintain them and how to ride them safely on the roads.”
