Take to the skies with Sheffield RAF Air Cadets

Fancy a career in flying?

A new recruitment drive by the RAF Air Cadets means Sheffield youngsters have the opportunity to take to the skies.

The 2000 Eckington squadron is now on the lookout for new recruits. Could this be you?

If you’re aged between 12-17 and wanting to join a ‘military’ youth organisation, the RAF Air cadets is the organisation for you.

Civilian instructor Shaun Holland said: “We are offering a range of exciting and educational activities from shooting, field craft, adventure training to B-Tec, Duke of Edinburgh and flying, there is something for everyone.”

The cadets meet every Monday and Wednesday night from 7-9.15pm with events every weekend.

“If you’re a fan of aviation, action and adventure, love sports and getting to know people then you’re in the right place.

“Every year nearly 60,000 air cadets and volunteer staff take part in exciting events all over the country.

“And with over 1,000 squadrons across the UK, you could be one of them.

“We’re sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do.

“HRH The Duchess of Cambridge is also our Honorary Air Commandant.”

Aims include promoting and encouraging a practical interest in aviation, providing training which will be useful in the services and civilian life and encouraging the spirit of adventure.
