The Spanish rail sector is said to be ‘buoyant’ and due to a number of Government contracts, companies overseas are looking to the UK and Doncaster.

Chris Dungworth, head of Business Doncaster, said: “Spanish companies came to us through our railway work and they’ve got a couple of investors looking at the UK and Doncaster.

“We’ve expanded our links with them - they were very keen to look at Doncaster and what we’ve got to offer around the rail sector. We hosted an event last year which brought 15 Spanish businesses across to have a look and we’ve secured two investments.

“The Spanish rail industry is quite buoyant and they’re looking at the UK market for investment based on the number of Government contracts that’s been issued at the moment. They’re looking for a presence in the UK and Doncaster through the work we’ve done around being a member of the association.”

The SBA was founded in 2019 in response to the need of a ‘network, support and information’ to Spanish companies out of the area of influence of London.

The group works by promoting channels of communication with the British public and private organizations.
