Police called to Doncaster street after sudden death of woman
Police were called to a street near Doncaster town centre after a woman died suddenly.
Several police cars and an ambulance were spotted by residents around Copley Road and Christ Church Road as emergency services dealt with the situation on Wednesday afternoon.
Supt Neil Thomas, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “There was a sudden death of a female, which is now been treated as a medical issue and not a police one. When somebody dies unexpectedly the police are always called, it doesn’t matter how old you are or where you are.”
One eyewitness said they had seen an ambulance, a police van and four police cars on Copley Road at around 2.15pm.
Another witness, who did not want to be named, said: “I saw lots of police on the street. They seemed to be heading towards a house on Christ Church Road.
“I asked an officer what was going on but they wouldn’t tell me. I don’t know what happened, but I heard somebody had died.”
Another passer-by said she spotted forensic investigators in the area at around 4.30pm.
A further statement from the police said: “Emergency services were called at around 1.50pm on July 13 to reports of a disturbance at a property in Christ Church Road.
“Upon arrival, the body of a woman in her late 20s was found at the property. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.”
A report was being prepared for the coroner.
