Level 42 performed at the racecourse, Leger Way, as part of the Ladbrokes Derby Day, delighting thousands of fans on Saturday.

Regarded as icons of classic British jazz funk, the band has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and had a string of top 40 singles including Lessons in Love, Something about You, Leaving Me Now, Running in the Family and Hot Water.

Kieran Gallagher, executive director at Doncaster Racecourse, said: “Level 42 delivered a fantastic performance that topped off another popular Derby Day fixture which saw over 10,000 guests enjoy a day of top-class racing action and off-the-track entertainment at Doncaster Racecourse.

“Mark King and Level 42 put on a great show and had crowds singing and dancing along to classics like Running in the Family and Lessons in Love.

“The concert took place on the Hallam FM Champagne Lawn, and the informal setting worked well, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the music and atmosphere into the evening sunshine.”

The band, made up of Mark King, Mike Lindup, Nathan King, Sean Freeman, Dan Carpenter, Nichol Thomson and Pete Ray Biggin, will return to the UK later this year for their tour.
