Students on song for Miles Better Million campaign

Students at a Doncaster school have hit the right note after boosting our Miles Better Million campaign to the tune of £1,500.

Pupils at Edlington’s Sir Thomas Wharton Community College were on song to boost the campaign coffers by a magnificent sum following a cracker of a Christmas concert at the end of last year.

And their efforts give an extra boost to our campaign to raise a whopping £1million to bring essential radiotherapy services for Doncaster cancer patients to town for the very first time.

We have teamed up with Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust for the mammoth drive so that thousands of patients will no longer have to make the gruelling trek over to Sheffield for treatment.

Pupils joined forces with Bramley Brass Band for the concert at Doncaster Minster, with CD sales of festive classics also helping to boost funds.”

DCDT fundraiser Georgina Mullis said: “We would like to say a big thank you to the pupils and staff at Thomas Wharton for their support and help in raising this money. There is a long way to go in the appeal so we want as many people to come and support us.”

School spokesman Rob Read said: “Pupils really wanted to support the campaign because its something at the heart of the community. We are hoping to record another CD this year of West End musical tracks which we also hope will boost the campaign.”
