Police confirmed they were investigating the incident, which reportedly happened on Saturday, June 11, outside Bright House in the town centre.
A Snapchat video emerged online showing a homeless man being heckled in a doorway by two men before he is sprayed from what appears to be a toy gun.

She said: “He told me his story of how he got homeless, no fault of his own. He was absolutely lovely and cried at the fact somebody had actually sat and talked to him.
“My parents got a bag full of food and pop for him.
“Unfortunately a few hours after we had left him he was attacked and the food we had got him had been sprayed with some sort of liquid- and if he wasn't embarrassed enough it was recorded and shared on Facebook.”
Rhianne, who said the ordeal ‘broke her heart’, has since launched a fundraising page in aid of the man.

“And treat him to some clothes and shoes and a haircut, he deserves some happiness after all of this.”
South Yorkshire Police said that enquiries were ‘ongoing’.
