Youngsters joined their foster families and social workers for an ‘Eggstravaganza’ Spring celebration in Rotherham.

Children of all ages from across the Dearne came together to enjoy a feast, along with music and dancing thanks to voluntary DJ Keith Swannick.

Youngsters also enjoyed numerous Easter-themed arts and crafts, face painting, games with the event culminating in an Easter bonnet parade.

The event was held last weekend at the Rotherham Adult Community Learning base in Riverside, Rotherham town centre.

Paul Dempsey, service manager for family placement and residential services, said: “Rotherham Council takes seriously the support needs of carers in Rotherham and recognises the importance of informal events like this to draw together carers to share their support, knowledge and skills, and for children to enjoy and have fun.

“Once again, the motivation of Rotherham’s carers astounds. Their aspirations for the children in our care remain second to none.

“The carers and the children enjoy coming together for the events and it helps us to build a supportive feeling of community amongst our fostering families,”
