The number of people visiting Waterdale Shopping Centre has increased significantly over the past 12 months, according to new figures.

The centre has seen a 70% rise in overall footfall, with weekday footfall increasing by 85 per cent.

Regneration specialist St. Modwen acquired the shopping centre in 2013 and is undertaking a comprehensive refurbishment programme.

Work is currently underway to upgrade all 37 residential apartments, including the installation of new fitted kitchens and bathrooms. Exterior walls and fixtures have also been repainted.

The developer is now turning its attentions to the underground car park and planned work, scheduled to start later this year, includes concrete repairs, new floor coatings and refurbishment of stairwells.

Richard Bannister of St Modwen said: “When we acquired Waterdale, one of our aims was to bring people back. The latest footfall figures are therefore very encouraging. We continue to invest in the centre and are committed to a rolling programme of improvements to create a vibrant, convenient and attractive place to shop and live in Doncaster.”
