Doncaster paramedic started baking to help his mental health during the pandemic

Adam Feast works as a paramedic for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, throughout the pandemic he has been under a lot of stress.
The 33-year-old from Intake, said: “We do get a lot of praise and thanks for what we do but that’s not why we do it.

Hide Ad“We don’t know if our patients have Covid-19 and we have lost friends and colleagues to it.”
One day Adam came home after a long shift and decided to try baking to ease his mind.
He had seen the recent craze of people jumping into the kitchen during the lockdown and felt inspired to do the same.

Hide Ad“I added too many eggs and it tasted awful.
“But now I’m brilliant at it and I love the light relief.”
Adam says his favourite part about baking is seeing the raw ingredients be transformed into something completely new.
It has helped him with his mental health by providing a creative and relaxing outlet.
“It can be really easy to become consumed by what you can’t do,” he continued.

Hide Ad“Finding something that you can disappear into and forget about the outside world has been so energizing for me.
“Turning negativity into something pretty that I can share with others has been great.”
Adam is most proud of his pride cupcakes and says he was bouncing around the kitchen when he made them.
“I share photos of my cakes on social media and take them into the hospital for my co-workers to try which is always appreciated.
