Doncaster fire round-up: Crews called to town supermarket

Three fire engines were called out to a Doncaster supermarket after smoke began pouring from the building.

Crews raced to the Spar store in Doncaster Road, Armthorpe at 7.30pm after receiving the call.

However, the cause was found to be a faulty electrical fitting and the crews, two from Doncaster and one from Edlington, were stood down shortly afterwards.

* Fire crews from Adwick were called out to deal with a fire in Selby Road, Askern at about 8.20pm.

A pile of tyres had been set ablaze. The cause of the blaze is unknown.

* Fire officers used beaters to put out a blaze on grassland that had been deliberately set on fire in Cadeby.
Crews from Edlington station attended at the incident in Garden Lane, Cadeby at 8.30pm last night.

* A shed and its contents were badly damaged after an early morning fire in Balby.

Three crews from Edlington and Doncaster attended the property in Douglas Road, Balby at 5.15am this morning. It is thought the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
