Patients and staff get a wheely good road safety message

Road safety was pressed home to staff and patients at a Doncaster hospital.

Staff from the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership visited Tickhill Road Hospital, aiming speed guns at motorists on the site, handing out leaflets and talking to pedestrians about road safety.

Motorists driving to the speed limit were welcomed by a large smiling sign – called Smiley Sid – which gave them the thumbs up for sticking to the speed limit.

The event was held to mark the second UN Global Road Safety Week.

Bob Marrison of RDaSH said: “It was an excellent way of making staff and visitors aware of the 15mph speed limit. It’s 15mph for a reason – to keep everyone safe.”
