One of Doncaster’s oldest residents has died at the age of 103.

Doris Wood of Bentley passed away on November 10 and her funeral is due to take place next week.

On her 100th birthday Mrs Wood put the secret of her long life down to having whisky in her tea and Baileys in her coffee.

She celebrated that milestone with a party for friends and family including relatives who had travelled from Australia for the occasion.

She was born just months before the Titanic set sail in 1912.

The funeral of Mrs Wood, a mother to Margaret, grandmother of two and great grandmother of five, will take place at Mount Hermon Church, Bentley at 12.30pm on November 25 followed by committal at Rose Hill Crematorium at 1.40pm.

Before her retirement, she worked in the kitchens in Kirkby Avenue Primary School in Bentley, and later as a waitress at a Doncaster cafe.
