A POLICE officer has appeared in court charged with rape.
Serving cop Lee Roy Wilcox, 44, is accused of rape, two counts of sexual assault and misconduct in public office.
No details were given at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday and Wilcox, an officer at South Yorkshire Police, spoke only to confirm his name. Dark-haired Wilcox was dressed in a dark suit with a striped purple shirt and tie.
He faces a number of charges relating to a woman who lives in Doncaster, allegedly committed in June.
Wilcox is now suspended from South Yorkshire Police.
He was granted conditional bail until his next hearing in November, with a provisional trial date set for early next year.
