An open juicing event turned out to be a very fruitful day at Epworth!
Over 40 people turned out to join the Apple of Your Isle group, to press apples (and a few pears), to make the most of their fallen fruit.
Peter Barnard, who hosted the day at his home along with helpers Alan Linnegar and David Yarnell, said the event had been “outstanding” and was helped by beautiful weather.
“Everyone commented on how easy and how much fun it was,” said Mr Barnard. “People wanted to know how to make apple juice in to cider, and about the different varieties of fruit to use. Visitors also looked around my garden, and we had a great deal of passing interest from people driving or walking by.
“Several folk wanted to hire the equipment to use at home, too. It’s a bumper crop of apples this year and by juicing them there is no wastage whatsoever.”
Another fruit pressing day takes place on October 19 on Commonside, Crowle, from 10am to 4pm. Slots must be booked on 01427 873937.
