Respect scheme in national glory

A SCHEME aimed at preventing young people in the Isle re-offending has won a national award.

The Respect Programme, which was introduced in 2010, provides an alternative to issuing a formal reprimand and avoids youths having a criminal record. It focus on reducing theft, criminal damage, assault and public order offences.

It won a national Sine a Light award from the Communication Trust.

The scheme is backed by police, health and probation service bosses.
