The number of people claiming Job Seekers’ Allowance (JSA) in Doncaster is at its lowest level for six years, latest figures show.
Statistics released today show the number of people across the borough claiming the Government benefit in November was 5,849.
Between October and November this year, the amount of people claiming JSA fell by five per cent - with a total of 6,169 reported to have claimed it in October.
Doncaster Central MP Rosie Winterton said: “The number of people claiming out of work benefits in Doncaster has fallen, and that is good news.”
Nationally, the jobless rate was six per cent in October matching its lowest level for six years.
Work and Pensions Secretary, Ian Duncan Smith said of the figures: “These figures show that our long term economic plan to create a better more prosperous future for Britain is working – with thousands of people feeling more secure over the Christmas period with a regular wage.”
