PLANNERS have said ‘nay’ to riding club plans to change the use of a field near Tickhill’s Lancaster Crescent for equine events because they fear it will cause a nuisance for nearby residents.
The Maltby and District Riding Club had asked for permission to use the field for events between May and September, and to store equipment there during the winter.
Forty objections to the scheme had been received, and councillors agreed with their officers’ recommendation that it should be turned down. About 20 letters of support had been received, but these were from outside the area.
Planning permission had been granted for a temporary period, but that expired at the end of September last year. This year the club has been using the site on a temporary basis, which gave them the right to use the site for 28 days a year, provided things weren’t left on the site permanently.
Councillors on the Planning Committee were told that jumps have been left in position since the mid-April. No enforcement action has been taken pending consideration of the application.
