There’s nothing worse than painstakingly painting your nails only to chip them hours later.
So it’s easy to see why Gelish, a chip resistant gel polish that lasts up to three weeks, is making a mark on the industry.
And now a range of courses are available offering locals the chance to learn the tricks of the Gelish trade so you can perform the manicure in the comfort of your own home or earn a professional qualification in the technique.
I jumped at the chance to visit Red 10 in Heather Court Shaw Wood Way and give the one day Taste of Gelish course a try.
The course is one of many new Gelish courses available at Red 10 - From Gelish courses for beginners to courses for manicure trained technicians wanting to add another string to their bow - starting from £90 plus VAT.
Master art educator Lauren Varley, my mentor for the day, said: “The beauty of this course is it teaches you how to do your own nails and we find a lot of people do this and get a taste for it and want to go on and do other courses to earn professional qualification either because they fancy a change of career or want a sideline.”
We covered everything from nail anatomy to application and after a few mistakes I started to get the hang of it. I was made to feel so welcome by the friendly team at Red 10 and thanks to the skills I picked up I have since performed a DIY Gelish manicure and am eager to enrol on other courses.
The team at Red 10 is also offering a helping hand to 16-25 year olds with a range of funded courses.
People aged 16-25 yr old can get funding from Princes Trust for courses at Red 10 and simply have to fund their own kit, for which payment options are available. To find out more contact 01302 340550 www.red10nailbars.co.uk or e-mail email@example.com
