Mystery surrounds cause of fatal Doncaster house fire
An investigation into a house fire in which an 87-year-old man died has failed to establish how the blaze started.
The property in Stonehill Rise, Scawthorpe was so badly damaged in the blaze on Monday that investigators have been forced to log the cause of the fire as unknown.An 87-year-old, named locally as Walter Robert Pickard, died in the fire that started at around 6.30am on Easter Monday.Maureen Stevenson, who lives next door to Mr Pickard – known to friends as Bob – said: “We are all in a state of shock and so upset. “Bob was a kind and caring person and a lovely neighbour.”
