My View, Cheryl Sadler: Feel the love at birthday celebrations
Birthdays are always great fun and we are really excited to be planning our very own 20th birthday celebration at Lakeside Village.
The weekend of August 13 and 14 will be a party to remember as we look back on the past 20 years of retail in Doncaster, showcase staff who have been with us since the centre opened and host a celebration for our loyal customers.
In true birthday style , from 11am to 4pm there will be free jelly and ice cream, face painting, balloon modelling, free giveaways and lots more.
Our shopping outlet launched as The Yorkshire Outlet on August 15, 1996, before rebranding as Lakeside Village in 2003.
Today, Lakeside Village is home to more than 45 retail outlet stores, including Next Outlet, M&S Outlet and Thornton’s Chocolate Café.
We’ve welcomed two stores in the last few weeks with Dickies, a workwear store, and Beauty Outlet joining us.
We’re thrilled to be celebrating the anniversary with a weekend of special activities.
Over the last two decades fashions have changed, household trends have come and gone but our centre has remained one of the region’s favourite choices when it comes to shopping.
We’ve built up an incredibly loyal customer base here in Doncaster, with people travelling from right across South Yorkshire to shop with us.
We can’t wait to share this special occasion with our customers and celebrate the two decades this centre has been in business.
Some retailers, including the M&S Outlet, Clarks Ooutlet and Black &Decker, have all been at the site since the beginning.
We are really looking forward to welcoming our loyal customers to our celebrations .
Activities will include free circus workshops, where shoppers can learn how to juggle, hula hoop and unicycle and a birthday treasure hunt.
On Saturday, there will also be a jazz band performance and the Hallam FM Street Team will be here with their fun photo booth.
Our retailers will also be marking the occasion, too, by offering extra discounts and promotions across the weekend.
We have lots of summer fun planned at the centre with something happening every weekend.
We want people to make the most of our free parking and free entertainment during the summer holidays because before we know it, it’ll be back-to-school time.
We have great stores, great offers and work closely with the local community to make a difference, just as our slogan says: Feel The Love.
