Moorends biker dies in crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a Moorends motorcyclist died when he was in collision with a car at Brierley, near Barnsley.

The incident happened on Thursday, 21 July at 7.54am at the junction of Barnsley Road with Frickley Bridge Lane at Brierley.

The biker, a 50-year-old man from Moorends, was travelling along Barnsley Road towards Hemsworth on a green Yamaha motorcycle.

The rider, who is not being named by South Yorkshire Police, suffered fatal injuries at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
