It is only a week since we launched our Miles Better Million campaign to improve cancer treatment in Doncaster - and cash is already starting to come in for our appeal.
We are calling on Doncaster Free Press readers to help us raise £1 million which will bring radiotherapy treatment for thousands of the town’s cancer patients to our town for the very first time.
The town’s number one newspaper has teamed up once again with Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust and Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals to raise the huge sum to pay for a new scanning facilities at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
And the Frenchgate Shopping Centre has got the ball rolling by donating the super sum of £500 to our campaign which will save scores of patients and their families emotionally difficult and tiring trips across South Yorkshire to Sheffield for gruelling treatment.
Manager Laurie Barton Wright handed over the cheque to DCDT’s Bob Fitzharris, helping to kick off the appeal in style.
Readers have dug deep many times before to help us with our efforts in conjunction with the DCDT and we’re confident you can do it again by throwing yourselves into fundraising campaigns and backing our Miles Better Million drive with all manner of magnificent moneyspinning ideas and events.
It’s easy to get involved and donate money.
