A 16-year-old boy has been rescued from a weir in Doncaster, after he became stuck in mud.

Members of the public found the teenager stuck in mud and clinging to a tyre at Sprotbrough Falls just after 3pm yesterday afternoon.

The teen was rescued by passers by, who also called the emergency services to the scene.

A South Yorkshire police spokesman said: “Police were called at around 3.20pm yesterday to reports a boy had come into difficulty and was trapped in some mud in the river near to Boat Lane.

“Emergency services attended and were able to free the boy, who has been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.”
