THE massive waste treatment plant proposed at Manvers moved a step closer this week, with the operating company’s application for a permit.
From today, the Environment Agency will advertise the permit request from Shanks Waste Management Ltd, that the company must have to ensure it keeps to required standards in all its working practices.
People from the local community can view the application and query any point on which they are unsure, or unhappy with. But this must be done within 20 working days. After that the application will be determined.
A planning application for the waste plant, that includes an anaerobic digestion facility, is still with Rotherham Council and will also be considered shortly. This application includes details of traffic flow to and from the site, that has been the main issue of concern to date, with up to 300 waste wagons set to add to daily traffic congestion on local roads.
Representations on the plans, that can be viewed on the Council website, are also still invited.
