Major Doncaster road finally re-opens - but it will close AGAIN in two weeks
Work to replace a railway bridge across the A18 Thorne Road between Clay Lane and Edenthorpe has been plagued by engineering problems – and the road is set to shut again from August 24 as workers make another attempt on the job which has left motorists facing delays and diversions for months.
The project originally began before the coronavirus pandemic, with the latest road closure kicking in several weeks ago.

A spokesman said: “It will unfortunately be closed again from Monday 24 August for up to four weeks and diversions will be reintroduced.
“Engineering difficulties have forced our hand in our attempts to ensure works to the rail bridge on the West Moor Link continue without too much delay.
“We appreciate this may cause some inconvenience and will attempt to minimise disruption where possible.”

Hide AdWork restarted on the project in July after earlier engineering problems and then the coronavirus pandemic caused delays to the project, which is expected to last around two years.
The roadworks are taking place on the stretch between Shaw Lane roundabout and the roundabout for the West Moor Link Road near Sainsbury’s.
The work is to replace the existing bridge and improve journey times from the West Moor Link into Doncaster.
