Laughter expected at Doncaster's touring festival
Drama groups across the region have joined forces to create a unique '˜touring festival' of one act comedy plays.
Acting Together will see members of Bawtry Phoenix Theatre, Gainsborough Theatre Company, Everton Village Players, Blyth Players and Haxey Amateur Dramatic Society work together to perform for audiences.
They will present the one act comedy plays which they will present over three evenings at each others venues with each society performing a play.
He said: “Acting Together has been brilliant. It has been great working with other groups.
“We have already benefited from loans of props, sharing stage technicians, publicising each other’s productions and just getting together to chat.”
It was at one such meeting that the idea of a joint touring production was hatched and detailed arrangements quickly followed.
David added: “Actors and backstage staff are finding it an exciting challenge performing a play in three different theatres with three different staging setups, and an event which we hope our customers will enjoy.”
Audiences visiting Bawtry Phoenix Theatre tonight, Gainsborough Old Nick Theatre on July 1 or Everton Village Hall on July 2 can see performances of Caroline comes to tea by Dilys Owen, performed by Bawtry Phoenix Theatre, A respectable funeral by Jimmy Chinn, performed by Gainsborough Theatre Company and Green Forms by Alan Bennett, performed by Everton Village Players.
