DONCASTER College has joined forces with a supermarket and employment centre to help people find work.
Recruitment days for the new ‘M Local’ store, based near junction three of the M18 and Carr Hill Industrial Estate, at the college’s Hub campus saw more than 1,500 people apply for vacancies for a range of roles.
Successful applicants were then enrolled on to a two-week training course at the College to prepare them for the final selection process.
The recruitment drive was held in partnership with Job Centre Plus and Morrison’s supermarket.
Kevin Cartlidge, employability and skills manager at the college, said: “The college is extremely proud to be part of this initiative as it forms part of our commitment to delivering training to meet local market needs.”
Dave Horner, from Job Centre Plus, added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Morrison’s and Doncaster College it has provided a great support network to help train and prepare local unemployed people for jobs at the new store.”
