Yesterday saw the unveiling of seat at Crowle railway station in memory of the late Brian Hastings.
Brian was a stalwart in the life of the villages of Crowle and Ealand for over 40 years.
At one time or another he was a secondary school teacher, town councillor, town mayor, fundraiser (Crowle Community Hall), magistrate, concert promoter, organiser of coach and rail day trips and holidays, environmental campaigner and public transport campaigner to mention a few.
Brian died in Crowle in February 2015 at the age of 80.
He was also chairman of the Lincolnshire branch of RAILFUTURE, the independent and voluntary rail campaigning body, for over ten years, and the group decided to sponsor a memorial seat in Brian’s memory on Crowle station. The unveiling ceremony was performed by stakeholder manager of Northern Rail, Peter Myers, with an introduction by David Harby of Railfuture, Lincolnshire.
