An Isle pre-school, said by its manager to be “as important to the community as Haxey Hood,” has been saved from closure.

Haxey pre-school, which opened in 1975, has received £3,000 from North Lincolnshire Council with a promise of £2,000 from a local choir fundraiser, which manager Joy Norouzi said should keep it going until at least Spring 2018.

She added: “This is fantastic news for everyone. We need to raise £10,000, but the money we now have and are promised should keep us running well into next year. And with more fundraising coming in and the good will of the community we are hoping to reach our £10,000 target.”
