Investigation into alleged rape of woman, 20, in town

ANOTHER woman has been allegedly raped as she was walking away from the town centre.

The 20-year-old woman was approached by a man who began talking to her as she was walking along Thorne Road.

After a short while he then took her down a side street and is said to have raped her.

The alleged attacker is white, between 40 and 50-years-old, medium build and 6ft 2in to 6ft 4in tall.

He is described as being bald with grey hair around the sides. He was wearing a black, short sleeved shirt with a collar and blue jeans.

Detectives have launched an investigation and want to speak to another man who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident.

He is white, in his late teens to early 20s, slim, 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall with short cropped hair. He was wearing a round neck jumper and jeans.

The incident, which happened at around 3am on Saturday, comes just two months after a woman was said to have been raped at the back of a row of businesses running along Thorne Road and near to Park Road.
