NORTH Lincolnshire faces massive disruption to services today as public sector workers strike over pensions.

Teachers, local government workers, health workers, civilian Humberside Police staff and civil servants are expected to join the nationwide action.

Many classrooms in North Lincolnshire will be empty with the majority of schools set to close for the day.

Those Isle schools affected include North Axholme School in Crowle and Epworth’s South Axholme School, as well as Belton, Epworth, St Martin’s in Owston Ferry and West Butterwick primary schools.

Both Crowle primary schools will remain open.

A spokesman for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said: “On Wednesday 30 November 2011 Humberside Fire and Rescue Service will be providing full operational emergency cover as usual despite a number of public sector unions planning to be involved in industrial action in relation to pension schemes reform.

“Residents are reminded of the importance of taking steps to stay safe from fire and to only call 999 in an emergency. For further information about fire safety please contact Humberside Fire and Rescue Service on 0300 303 8242.”
