Hundreds of Mexborough residents came together to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday.
Mexborough councillor Sean Gibbons, who attended the service, said: “It was an amazing turn-out yesterday and it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of it.
“Huge thanks go to the Mexborough, Swinton and Kilnhurst branch of the Royal British Legion for leading on the organising.
“Well done to all, especially Enis Dalton, Pam Chambers and Chairman Roy Lund, Patrick Kenny, Sally-Anne Kenny, to name but a few.
“Also, thanks to Inspector Collingwood and the LPU for their usual policing support.”
The local branches of The Royal British Legion, covering Mexborough, Swinton and Kilnhurst meet on the third Sunday of every month, at 11am.
The meetings take place at the LNER Social Club, Rowms Lane, Swinton, where supporters are welcome to join them.
They also meet on the first Saturday of every month, at 11am, at the same venue, for coffee and an informal gathering, when members of the public are invited to come along.
In addition, to raise funds, they are also holding a car boot and table top sale, on Saturday, November 28, from 11am to 1pm at the LNER Social Club.
Craft stalls will also be on display at the free event.
