THE company responsible for managing council housing in Thorne and Moorends has had its contract extended for three-years.
Doncaster Council approved the extension to St Leger Homes’ contract at a cabinet meeting but officials want it to look at a number of measures to increase the value for money to the taxpayer.
Last year the organisation was given only a one-year extension to its original deal and bosses at the council called for significant improvements in cost cutting.
The cost cutting measures include plans to slash the size of the board which runs the firm from 15 to nine, to be made up equally of tenant reps, independent reps and Doncaster Council nominees.
Susan Jordan, chief executive of St Leger Homes, welcomed the decision.
She said: “It helps us continue to plan our business effectively and gives us the opportunity to continue to improve.
“We are committed to working in partnership with the council to deliver excellent services to tenants.”
