High-flying servicemen to salute WWII bombers

HEROIC air servicemen from Doncaster could be invited to attend a special event celebrating the achievements of Britain’s Second World War bombers.

Members of the public are being invited to nominate their local RAF heroes for a seat at the Salute to Bomber Command Banquet on November 8.

The event celebrates the building of the Bomber Command Memorial in London and will raise funds to ensure its preservation for the future.

The memorial is a tribute to 55,573 airmen killed in the Second World War fighting for the freedom they did not live to see.

Ten retired or serving RAF officers, selected from the nominations, will be invited to attend the gala at London’s Natural History Museum.

Entries should include a brief 50-100 word explanation about your hero and what makes them an inspiration. The deadline is October 28.
