Patients treated at Montagu Hospital in Mexborough could soon be able to give feedback on their level of care by text message.
People who are treated in the emergency department at Doncaster Royal Infirmary are currently being asked to give feedback via text. Health chiefs said if the scheme proves successful it could be introduced at Montagu Hospital.
Those treated who agree to take part are sent a text within 48 hours after they are discharged and asked if they would recommend the service to their friends and family.
Mike Pinkerton, chief executive of the trust, said: “We want our patients to have the best possible experience of care in all our hospitals. The Friends & Family Test supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience.
“This gives the Trust invaluable information on what patients think of our services, which can be used to help make improvements if required and to share good practice where relevant. I urge all our patients to complete the Friends & Family Test before discharge, or if you have visited the emergency department use the new text messaging option available - this is your chance to have your say.”
The text replies are anonymous and results are published on the NHS Choices website www.nhs.uk.
