Doncaster hospital A&E closed after “contaminated” patient incident

Doncaster Royal Infirmary’s Accident and Emergency department had to be temporarily closed down yesterday morning due to contamination fears.

THe decision was taken after a walk-in patient attended who had been involved in a chemical incident.

A spokesman for the hospital said: “This was a minor incident yesterday morning when we had a walk-in patient who had been involved in a chemical incident and the decision was taken to temporarily close down the department while it was established what chemical was being dealt with.

“Procedure was followed and the department was reopened shortly after.”
