The coffee morning held at the Methodist Church last Saturday, August 20th raised £275 for St John’s Hospice.

The coffee morning this week will be for Project 2000.

The preacher on Sunday, August 28th will be Rev John Hartley from Doncaster.


It is nice to see the stone built ‘Stainforth’ sign replaced on Kirton Lane in Stainforth.

Stainforth libary is closed for the Bank Holiday on Monday August 29th.

The CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) is now situated in the Methodist Church building on Church road in Stainforth.

Stainforth library on Church road has been holding Summer Activities for children the past month, there is just two more for you- Friday August 26th from 2.30pm until 3.30pm- Learn how to Juggle and spin plates and craft a circus star.

Then on Thursday September 1st at 10.30am until 11.30am it is Mr Dan, circus workshop- come along and join in the fun learning how to walk a tight rope and stilts. More details and tickets from the library on 01302 841239.

The Customer Service Advisor on duty when I called in is Stephen Cook-(no relation to the Town Councillor).

He informed me twelve people are newly employed after calling in for help.

Stainforth library have had some summer activities for children, with a donation from Stainforth town council.

FISHLAKE Drama group has chosen the title of this year’s pantomime and rehearsals are about to start. It’s the old favourite “Cinderella”.

Mrs Sheila Hill’s team won the quiz last Thursday in the Old Anchor Inn.

The village’s third Scarecrow Festival will take place between 9th and 11th September on the main routes into Fishlake and around the church.

Saturday, 10th September will see a Coffee Morning in the church along with a raffle, a jam stall and children’s activities.

A mini scarecrow competition will be held for children. Visitors are asked to vote for their favourite scarecrow over the weekend.

10-30am. Breaking of Bread Communion service.

Sunday 4th September 11:

Evening at 6pm, Refreshments and Youth room open, after the meeting, family friendly.

Wednesday 7th September:

7.30pm Prayer, Care and Bible Study course. Refreshments.

Little Gems play group starts 9.30am 15th September and Treasure Kids Club on 16th September at 5pm.

If you have never been to the church before Sunday evening is a family friendly meeting with refreshments and friendship and Youth Room with table tennis, air hockey and pool table open after the meeting.

St Lawrence Church are holding a ‘raise the roof’ appeal featuring a former Yorkshire cricket star.

Mike Cowan will be hosting ‘Yorkshire Relish’ on Saturday 17th September at the church at 7.30pm.
