A teenager from Sandtoft, near, Doncaster is hoping to be crowned Miss England - as she waits for her A Level results.
Arabella White, aged 18, is taking part in the finals of the contest at the Ramada Plaza in Southport, on Thursday, after winning through in the Miss South Yorkshire heat earlier this year.
She sat her exams in May, and expects her A level results in August. But it is possible she could collect them as the reigning Miss England.
She said: “I can’t remember when I applied for Miss South Yorkshire.
“My mum, Linda Walton, used to do all the pageants. I originally emailed the organisers, and I was too young. But when I turned 18 they emailed me and said they were doing interviews. I was interviewed in May, and then the Miss South Yorkshire competition was a few weeks later.
“I didn’t expect to get anywhere and just did is as a confidence boost. I was really shocked to win - I only did it for a confidence boost.
Arabella takes part in the finals on Thursday. She has to take part in a talent contest, and design and eco-friendly outfit.
She has also had to raise money for a charity, Beauty with a Purpose, which has is supported by the contest.
She has raised money by selling popcorn at her former primary school, and from selling cakes at Worksop College, where she studied for her A Levels.
She also held a big fundraiser at her home in the village of Sandtoft.
She said: “My friends have been really supportive. I’ll celebrate a lot if I win!”
