Local artists and businesses supported by DMBC have been working together to show off Doncaster’s creative side.

The upcoming Culture Crawl will see 13 venues hosting everything from art exhibitions, to live music and poetry. Talented artist Amy Frost (Scawthorpe) age 24 who is currently studying Fine Art at Bath Spa University, is curating one of the art exhibitions, at C-view the former Art College called Audaciously Made. Amy has brought together 20 new and upcoming local artists who adhere to the Fine Art values.

Participating in the exhibition is Amy’s grandad John Whittle (Tollbar) who is returning to the art scene after 50 years. John abandoned his dream to become an artist to be a miner. Spzero76 Doncaster born but Bristol based artist, is also painting a mural on a building on Broxholme Lane dedicated to culture within Doncaster.

Curator Amy Frost said, “The Culture Crawl became a reality because we were sick of hearing that Doncaster doesn’t have any culture!”.

The Culture Crawl starts at 5pm on the 24th of July, starting at C-View, Doncaster DN1 1AF. It’ll be an evening full of arts and culture proving that there is more to Doncaster than what’s on the surface. There’s a map available online where people can visit different locations across the town and take part in the crawl, with the aim to help people rediscover the town and have fun doing it. We are hoping this to be the first of many Culture Crawls for Doncaster.

Children are welcome to attend Culture Crawl and some of the venues and locations will be providing activities for children. Not all venues are suitable.
