Fundraisers Unite at charity event

ORGANISER Sharon Foster is looking for a sponsor to help maintain momentum following the success of last weekend’s charity fundraiser, Uniforms Unite.

Over 1,000 people turned up to the event in Thorne, raising over £1500 for charities Help for Heroes and The Blue Lamp Appeal, in aid of injured military and emergency service men and women.

Entertainment came in the form of music, dancers and rides for children.

The main highlight, an endurance competition, was narrowly won by local rugby team, Moorends Marauders.

“There’s just so many people that need thanking”, said Sharon, overwhelmed by the support for her first event, which included appearances from local ex-serviceman Ben Parkinson, MP Caroline Flint and mayor Bert Chowings. However, an ambitious Sharon wants to continue to create events across the country and is looking for sponsors to help start up a charity.
