Fundraiser for dementia charity

Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce are hoping to raise thousands of pounds for dementia charity Lost Chord at their annual President’s Charity Ball next month.

The Rotherham-based charity, which uses music to help dementia sufferers, benefited from a £5000 donation from last year’s Ball, and organisers hope this years event will be every bit as successful.

Helena Muller, Chief Executive of Lost Chord, said: “The present financial climate is really taking its toll, however we are determined to survive as there is no statutory provision to support our attempts to improve quality of life and raise self esteem for one of the most vulnerable groups in society.”

This year’s ‘Mystery Masquerade’ themed Ball will take place at the Magna Centre in Rotherham on Saturday, May 12.
